Welcome to Hell!

Welcome to Hell / Grand Cayman

Yes, really! It’s a tiny town with its own post office where you can mail a postcard from Hell.

There is a souvenir shop where you can buy something that says you have been to Hell! 🙂

It’s also where you will find rough and jagged black limestone formations half-a-football field, that suggest what Hell might look like!

Stingray City & Sandbar

Grand Cayman Stingray citiy | Caribbean island

I have a funny story to tell you about this.

A long time ago, when we first cruised to Grand Cayman, my husband asked the lady at the excursion desk on the ship if we could take a taxi to Stingray City….she laughed. We found out it was in the middle of the ocean! on a sandbar.

You obviously have to take a boat tour. It’s very shallow and you get off the boat and you don’t have to swim, you stand with water only to your waist.

My husband was the first off the boat, but my daughter (who was about 14 years old then) and I were the last ones off, we weren’t too sure about this. We could see all these big stingrays swimming to everyone in the water and even climbing on my husband.

As soon as my daughter and I hit the water, 2 or 3 started swimming towards us and guess what? We both screamed and climbed back up on the boat and watch from that safe place for the rest of the tour.

We are the exception though…everyone loves going there.

Snorkeling & Diving

There are many free snorkeling spots accessible from shore. Wreck of the Gamma is near the end of Seven Mile Beach. Perfect for beginners.

Eden Rock is a walking distance from the pier where tenders arrive. If you don’t have your own gears, you can rent them at the Eden Rock dive center.

Cheeseburger Reef is another snorkeling spot that can be reached by foot from the pier. Got its name because it’s beside Burger King!

Seven Mile Beach

famous 7-mile beach Grand Cayman

This world-famous beach is only 10-minute drive from the pier. It’s not really 7 mile but 5.5 mile-long!

It’s a long stretch of white sand, perfect to just relax, take long walks and enjoy the crystal clear water.

You can rent chairs and water sports activities are available.
